Dr Rakesh Amin

Rakesh is an educational lead for endocrinology and diabetes at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Rakesh qualified in Medicine at Leeds University. He then trained in paediatric medicine in London, and specializing in endocrinology and diabetes in London and Oxford. He was awarded an MD for research on the subject of microvascular disease.
Rakesh was appointed as a paediatric consultant, and started as a consultant and senior lecturer at GOSH and ICH in 2012.
Dr Amin specialises in all forms of diabetes in children and young people, as well as growth, puberty, thyroid disease, bone disease, adrenal problems, and obesity.
NHS and Academic posts
Rakesh has spoken at many international meetings, and received numerous awards.
He is establishing biobanks of people with diabetes and is the SE England lead for the TRIALNET Pathway to Prevention Study. He's a researcher for the NHS Child Policy Research Unit.

Dr Amin speaks both English and Gujarati.
As a paediatrician, he treats people aged between 0-25 years of age only.
